Your secretary, whether you recognize it or not, can make or break your practice. When things are smooth sailing, your business can run like a well-oiled machine. If your secretary is dropping the ball or you two aren't on the same page, it can be a nightmare.
I have yet to meet one person who has never procrastinated on anything. We've all done it from time to time, dragging our feet to take the first step in a task or project. However, there are some people who have actually been able to beat it. With the following strategies in place, you too can get things done once and for all.
We've been hearing that we need to get a good night's sleep forever, but for many people, that's easier said than done. Many factors can go into why someone may not get a good night's sleep which can include, not going to bed early enough, stress, and even sleep apnea. Lack of good sleep can really take a negative toll on your mind and body after awhile. When you're consistently tired and groggy, you lack energy and your productivity levels drastically decrease. I can say I've been fortunate to almost always sleep well regardless of where I am and what's going on in my life.
As a busy solo or small firm attorney, your time is precious. It is vital that you use your time to actually practice law and bring in more business. However, there are always other matters in your practice that absolutely need to be tended to, but that doesn’t mean that you have to be the one to do them. Some things are better left to a legal assistant. It may be tempting to try to keep costs low and handle everything yourself, but doing tis only hurts your practice and your sanity in the long-run.
