It doesn't matter how much effort you put into your resume, cover letter or interview if you're lacking this ONE thing.
And it's BELIEF. (Not what you were expecting right?)
Well, it's true. You must first BELIEVE that you deserve and/or will get the job of your dreams.
I was just at a staffing conference in Vegas recently and a guy named Dan Lier spoke about this very subject. He said "your beliefs are a feeling of certainty" and that "you will never outperform your beliefs." I couldn't agree with him more.
I was recently speaking with someone who has been desperately trying to leave his job. He's been applying for numerous positions and has even been getting some interviews. And every time I ask him how the interview went, he says "Oh, it went well, but you know they're not going to hire a sixty-year old man. They're probably just going to hire some kid right out of school."
Now do you think that he got any of those positions that he applied for?
No, he didn't.
Do you think that he's still at the very same job that he hates?
Yes, he is.
If you feel that you are only qualified for one type of job or think that there are outside factors conspiring against your ability to get the job you want, then you're absolutely right. Those disempowering beliefs will keep you exactly in the place where you claim you don't want to be.
Disempowering beliefs are beliefs that limit or constrain us. Think of them as a box that we've placed ourselves in and can't get out.
So you must turn your disempowering beliefs into empowering beliefs, or beliefs that anything is possible.
How do you do this?
Watch the video below to find out.
Once you’ve had a chance to watch, I’d love to know whether your beliefs or lack thereof has affected your job search.
